What Is Roundup River Ranch?

Roundup River Ranch provides children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses camp experiences with appropriate medical care that are fun, safe, and empowering. At camp, children between the ages of seven and 17, participate in nine fully adaptable program areas. Best of all, our programs are offered free of charge to our campers and their families thanks to the generosity of our caring supporters. Roundup River Ranch, because of the advanced level of medical supervision we provide, makes it possible for nearly every kid – even the sickest among us, to fully enjoy the camp experience.

Where Do Campers Come from?

Roundup River Ranch will welcome approximately 425 campers next year in programs offered in the summer, fall, and spring. Children from an 11-state region, including Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming, will have the opportunity to experience the joys of childhood camp.

Our Approach

The cornerstone of camp is our intentional programming philosophy. Campers challenge themselves by their individual choices, realizing new successes and talents as a result. The word “just” is not allowed. It devalues participation. “You can climb the wall, or just climb part way up.” “You can ride the horse around the ring, or just groom it.” “Just” minimizes the accomplishment – and creates comparison. At Roundup River Ranch, our campers navigate their own experiences, and our staff has the privilege of emphasizing their successes.

Above all else, camp is fun! In everything we do, we ensure that our campers have fun and enjoy memorable, empowering experiences with kids who are like them.
