Our Board
Brenda and Derik Allerton
Brenda is a seasoned manager with more than fifteen years of experience in business development, cost control, project management, marketing and strategic planning. She received her BA from the University of Rhode Island and most recently served as a Client Service Associate/Project Manager for the Stanford Group Company in Boca Raton, Florida.
Derik has served over 15 years in the financial and securities industry. He is the President and CEO of Frontier Securities, LLC, a company he founded in February 2009. Derik graduated with a BA in Economics from the University of Colorado, Boulder and completed graduate work in management organization and communications at the University of Colorado, Denver.
Pam Bard
Pam is the President of Bard & Co., a diversified investment management company and co-investor in Bard Capital, a private equity firm. Pam has served on several boards including The Children’s Hospital Foundation, University of Colorado Foundation, Evergreen Mountain School, CU Denver, the Beaver Creek Club and the Vilar Center.
Jeri and Charlie Campisi
Jeri founded an Executive Recruiting Firm, Wellford Associates and graduated from Hofstra University. Charlie’s career accomplishments include the start-up of several large computer software companies. Together they are active on several boards in the Beaver Creek Community including past appointments on Colorado Mountain College and the Family Learning Center.
Ida and Wiley Daniel
Ida currently serves as Director of Admissions for Stanley British Primary School and is president of the Denver Chapter of Links, Incorporated. Wiley is Chief Judge of the US District Court for the District of Colorado. He is a Board Member of the Bridge Project and is president-elect of the Federal Judges Association, a nationwide organization of Article III judges.
Kathy Ferguson
Kathy’s career includes marketing and managing product lines for several well-known companies including Nabisco, Lever, Mattel and Sebastian International. She graduated from the University of Colorado and University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
Craig Foley
Craig was a Director and founding investor in Chancellor Chancellor Capital Management (now INVESCO Private Capital) . He was the lead institutional investor in Starbucks and a member of its Board of Directors for 15 years. Craig has served as Trustee of the Bronxville, NY School System and Kenyon College.
John Forester, Ex-Officio
John practiced corporate law until he formed his own consulting company. He is a Board Member of Double H Ranch, Chairman of New Camp Development for the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps and on the Board of Trustees of the Hole in the Wall Foundation.
Gerald Gallegos
Gerald is the CEO of The Gallegos Corporation. He currently holds a board position with El Pomar Foundation, Vail Valley Foundation, Youth Foundation (also a founding member) and the Minturn Community Fund.
Linda and John Galvin
John is the retired chairman of the Irvine Company, one of the nation’s leading real estate investment companies. He served as Senior Vice President of Aetna Life and Casualty and CEO of its International and Diversified Business Group. John has served in a leadership role in the Vail Valley Foundation, Bravo!, the Beaver Creek Religious Foundation and the Eagle Valley Family Assistance Fund.
Marcy Montana Gates and John S. Gates
Marcy is highly dedicated to her volunteer efforts, having rescued animals for 20 years as well as volunteering for Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics and Feeding the Homeless Project. She is currently training for the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team. Marcy received her BA from University of Massachusetts and her BFA in photography from Massachusetts College of Art. John is an architect and manages his own firm, Gates Architecture LLC. He serves on the Board of Managers of Gates Capital Management and is a member of the Gates Family Foundation, a co-Trustee of the Gates Frontier Fund, a board member of Susan G. Koman Foundation Aspen and serves as a Trustee of The Thacher School.
Georgia Gogel
Georgia practiced law, specializing in real estate. Since retiring, she served as a Trustee of the Bronxville School Board of Education, the Cancer Research Institute, the Creative Center for Women with Cancer and the Bronxville/Eastchester Community Fund Board and the Graham Windham Services to Families and Children.
Dr. Lia Gore, MD
Lia is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Director of Experimental Therapeutics Program at The Children’s Hospital in Denver, Faculty of the Developmental Therapeutics Program at the University of Colorado Cancer Center, and Pediatric Oncologist at the Children’s Hospital of Denver. Lia attended George Washington University School of Medicine.
Jane Healy
Jane has a PhD in educational psychology from Case Western Reserve University and has done postdoctoral work in developmental neuropsychology. Formerly a faculty member at Cleveland State University and John Carroll University, she now lectures and consults and is the author of numerous articles and books.
Rick Hermes
Rick is the principal of Hermes Resort Properties, a building firm in Edwards, Colorado with annual financial sales exceeding $100 million. His community activities include Ambassador of Habitat for Humanity of Eagle County, Board Member of the Eagle Valley Homebuilders Association and active benefactor and fundraiser for the Vail Academy.
Alison Knapp, Founder
Alison was co-founder, President, and COO of Maynard Electronics. She chaired the Board for the Vilar Center for the Arts and has served on many boards including: Beaver Creek Resort Company, Eagle Valley Family Assistance Fund, Vail Symposium, and was the Chair of Booster Club at Battle Mountain High School. She was presented with the Citizen of the Year award in Beaver Creek by President Gerald R. Ford in 1997.
Merv Lapin
Merv is involved in land partnerships in the Vail Valley and founded Vail Securities Investment, Inc. Since moving to Vail in 1966, he has been involved in many non-profits and commissions including: Eagle County Planning Commission, Vail Metro District Board, Vail Consolidated Water District, Eagle County Recreational Authority, Mayor Pro Tem, Vail Town Council and President of Sister City organization for the Vail Valley.
Sandy and Charles Lloyd
Sandy is retired from her position as Director of Marketing and Sales for Bailey Productions. She graduated the University of Colorado. Charles worked as a general partner for two Dallas investment companies before retiring. Charles serves on the Executive Committee of the Perkins School of Theology at SMU. Charles earned a BA from Stanford University, and a PhD in Theological Studies from Yale University.
Robert Mandell
Robert is the president of Greater Homes, a Meritage Homes Company, and is an active member in central Florida’s government, specifically in the area of transportation. Robert graduated from the University of Florida with at BS and a JD. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School.
Rebecca Riff
Rebecca lives in Denver and also has a home in the Vail Valley. She worked for over 10 years as a management consultant in Boston and currently volunteers as a partner and member of the grant committee of Social Venture Partners. Rebecca graduated from Bates College with a BS in Biology and has her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice.
Anne Roberts
Anne was a commercial actress and award-winning vocalist in New York City. Since relocating to the Vail Valley, she has held leadership roles with other national non-profit organizations including Canine Companions for Independence, “Road Smart” National Drivers Education Program for Teenagers and chaired the “Help America Rally” to raise money for 9/11 victims.
Suzanne and Bernie Scharf
Bernie is a real estate investor, developer and manager. His nonprofit experience includes: President of McCoy Peak Association Board, President of Park Plaza Condominium Association and a Board Member of Riverwalk Bank Building Association. Suzanne helped build the North Shore Agency, the largest direct marketing collection agency in the United States, where she was the Executive Vice President for 20 years.
Beth Slifer
Beth is the Creative Director and CEO of Slifer Designs. Her diverse career includes experience in teaching, banking, retail, marketing, and politics working on Jimmy Carter’s campaign, as well as working as the Special Assistant to Administrator of the EPA. Beth volunteers on many non-profit boards that benefit the educational, economic, and cultural goals of the community.
Susan Washing
Susan’s career consisted of working for start-up technology companies until she started her own company, Professional Trainers and Speakers. She went on to make a career in the nonprofit sector, serving on the executive committees of several boards over the past 20 years including the Emergency Family Assistance Association, Blue Sky Bridge, the Dairy Center for the Arts and The Youth Foundation of Vail.
Carole Watters
Carole was the Director of the Language Retraining Program at the Allendale-Columbia School, and has worked in counseling and play therapy for severely abused children in Dallas. She was a city ambassador for the Dallas Office of Foreign Affairs and has held several board positions, including the Dallas Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse and the Advisory Board for the Samaritan Center of the Rockies.
Karin and Bob Weber
Karin worked as a Securities Broker, Real Estate Broker and VP of Sales for Merrill Lynch. She is active in many nonprofits including: Vail Valley Institute, Vail Symposium, Bravo!, Vail Valley Leadership Institute, Eagle Valley Family Assistance Fund and University of Denver Committee on International Studies. Bob retired as the VP of Weber International and President of Weber Marking Systems.
Kim and Steve Winesett
Steve joined The Children’s Hospital Foundation as President and CEO just before the hospital embarked on The Imagine the Miracles Campaign, a $250 million effort to help build a new hospital and support the hospital’s endowment programs and annual operations. Kim is a former elementary school teacher and reading specialist.
